PART 1 - GENERAL

 

1.1       RELATED DOCUMENTS

 

            A.        Drawing and general provisions of the Contract, including General and

Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this

Section.

 

1.2       SUMMARY

           

            A.        This section includes traffic doors and frames

 

1.3       SUBMITTALS

 

            A.        Product Data:  For each type of door and frame indicated.  Include construction

details relative to materials, individual components and profiles, finishes and fire

ratings (if required) for access doors and frames.

 

            B.        Shop Drawings:  Show fabrication and installation details of traffic doors and

frames.  Include plans, elevations, sections, details and attachments to other

Work.

 

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

 

2.1       ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS/PRODUCTS

 

            A.        Traffic Door Manufacturer:  Subject to compliance with requirements, provide

 products of the following:

 

Chase Doors, Provide by PMH Material Handling. 888-557-1515 (Chuck Phillips)

 

2.2       TRAFFIC DOORS AND FRAMES

 

            A.        Model 300I Proline Insulated Core Traffic Doors and Frames

 

                        1.         Doors shall be constructed of 1-1/2” thick wood/foam and clad with full

height [ impact abrasion resistant ABS plastic, high pressure laminate,

FRP, stainless steel, galvanized steel or aluminum ] surface covering on

both sides.  Architect to select color from manufacturer’s standard colors

or laminates.

2.                  Door shall be manufactured with 18 gauge, Type 304, #4 finish stainless

steel impact plates.  Plates will be [ 24”, 30”, 36”, 42”, 48"] high on both

sides of panel.

 

OR

 

2.         Door shall be manufactured with galvanized impact plates [12”, 18”, 24”,

30”, 36”, 42”. 48”] high on [one or both sides] of panel.

 

OR

 

2.            Door shall be manufactured with ABS impact plates [12”, 18”, 24”,

30”, 36”, 42”, 48”] high on [one or both sides] of panel.  Color to be determined by Architect from manufacturer’s standard selection.

 

OR

 

2.         Polyethylene teardrop bumpers with 3” projection to be [6”, 12”, 18”, 24”,

36”, 42”] high.  Color to be determined by Architect from manufacturer’s standard selection.

 

3.         All edges shall be constructed with a Pro-Locδ Edge which shall be

slotted to accept a bulb gasket to form a complete seal with the door

jamb and floor.  Gasket shall be replaceable.

 

4.         Doors shall utilize Chase "E" series adjustable gravity close hardware

system with panel mounted hinge body, and powder coated steel jamb

mounting bracket.  Removable covers allow for hinge adjustment during

installation.

                        4.         Doors shall utilize the Chase gravity self closing v-cam upper hinge. 

Hinge shall allow 125° swing in each direction on 3-1/2” jambs. 

 

                        5.         Bottom hinge assembly shall be 1/2" diameter powder coated steel pin

with panel mounted saddle bracket and shall include hardware for floor

and jamb mount installation.

 

                        6.         Window shall be 1/8” thick polycarbonate in an ABS molded frame,

centered 60” from floor.  (10” x 16” size in panels up to 36” wide), (16” x

16” size in panels 36” wide and larger).

Optional Window sizes:          8” x 16”

7.         Aluminum Lower Hinge Guards to be [9", 12", 18"] high

 

8.         PVC bumper strips [black or brown] [30”, 36”, 42”, 48”] wide.

 

OR

 

8.         Extruded Aluminum bumper strips [30”, 36”, 42”, 48”] wide.

 

 

B.        Frames:  Tubular Steel by door manufacturer

 

2.3       FABRICATION

 

            A.        General:  Provide traffic door assemblies manufactured as integral units ready

                        for installation.

 

            B.        Metal Surfaces:  For metal surfaces exposed to view in the completed Work,

provide materials with smooth, flat surfaces without blemishes.  Do not use

materials with exposed pitting, seam marks, roller marks, rolled trade names or

roughness.

 

 

           

2.4       WARRANTY

 

            A.        365 days from the date of installation or 395 days from the date of

                        shipment, whichever comes first.

 

 

PART 3 - EXECUTION

 

            A.        Install special doors complete with necessary hardware and accessories in

                        accordance with final shop drawings, manufacturer's instructions and as

                        specified herein.

 

            B.        All assemblies must be installed plumb, level and properly aligned.

 

 

            C.        Upon completion of installation, lubricate, test and adjust doors to operate

                        easily, free from warp, twist or distortion.

 

            D.        Coordinate installation of bollards and/or wall stops with architectural drawings.
